Conservation and heritage is of great importance to the council.
The borough of Chesterfield contains a variety of heritage assets, including those which are designated and non-designated.
The built heritage is protected through the listing of buildings, the designation of conservation areas and the policies contained within the development plan for the borough and government guidance set out in the National Planning Policy Framework.
