Residents discounted parking permit

Discounted parking is now available at many of our car parks at off-peak times, see more below
We run a discounted parking scheme to support our residents and encourage more people to use our local businesses.
If you are a Chesterfield resident and you pay your Council Tax to Chesterfield Borough Council you will receive a parking permit with your annual Council Tax bill. It can be used for discounted parking in the following Chesterfield Borough Council off-street pay and display car parks:
- Albion Road
- Devonshire Street
- Durrant Road
- Hollis Lane (excluding on-street bays)
- Holywell Cross (the 'Donut')
- Queens Park (North and South)
- Queens Park Annexe
- Spa Lane
- Station Road
- St Mary’s Gate
- Theatre Lane
Time restrictions and charges
Residents of the borough can park before 10am and after 3pm Monday to Saturday and all day on Sundays and bank holidays whilst displaying the permit, alongside a valid parking ticket, or payment on the RingGo app.
The following charges apply when using the permit:
- £1 before 10am – Monday to Saturday
- £2 after 3pm – Monday to Saturday
- £2 all day – Sundays and Bank Holidays
It cannot be used in any other off-street car park or on-street parking bays. Normal ticket charges will apply at these locations, and failure to display a ticket will result in the issue of a Penalty Charge Notice.
Paying using the RingGo app
If you haven’t used the RingGo app previously, you will need to download the app and create an account. Details on how to do this can be found on Ring Go.
The location code to pay via the RingGo app is ‘801036’ – Residents Permit, Chesterfield.
Select the residents parking tariff and pay the appropriate fee.
There are additional fees for text reminders and receipts when using the RingGo app, you can manage these options in your account settings.
Remember to display your residents discounted permit clearly on your dashboard for your session to be valid.
Paying using the pay and display machines
To pay the residents parking tariff, press the yellow button below the screen. Insert coins up to the appropriate fee for the session and press the green button to obtain your ticket. Remember to display your residents discounted permit clearly on your dashboard alongside your pay and display ticket for your session to be valid.
You will need to buy a pay-and-display ticket or RingGo parking session for the period you wish to park. It might be worth leaving the parking permit in your car for future visits.
You will need to buy a parking session to cover the period up to 3pm and also purchase the £2 after 3pm session.
For example, if you want to park from 2pm to 5pm you just need to buy a one-hour parking session to cover the period 2pm to 3pm, and need to purchase the £2 residents session to cover 3pm onwards.
Please ensure the residents discounted permit is clearly displayed.
Remember, residents can use their pass to park for £2 all day on Sundays and bank holidays.
You just need to buy a pay-and-display ticket or RingGo parking session to cover the extra time you need. This must be done after 10am when the discounted period ends.
For example, you arrive at 8.30am and will leave at 11am, purchase the £1 discounted residents parking session, taking you to 10am. After 10am, you purchase a regular parking session for 1 hour to cover until 11am.
Please ensure the residents discounted permit is clearly displayed.
Remember, residents can use their pass to park for £2 all day on Sundays and bank holidays.

No. Only one parking permit is issued per property, although this can be switched between residents of the household provided only one person from the property uses it at any one time.
The residents discounted parking scheme is funded by Chesterfield Borough Council for residents of Chesterfield borough.
Our neighbouring local authorities, North East Derbyshire District Council and Bolsover District Council, are not part of the scheme so the discounted permit is not available to their residents. However, they may have parking schemes in their own areas.

Terms and conditions
- the parking permit must be displayed on the dashboard of your vehicle and clearly visible through the windscreen when using the off-street car park included in the scheme
- failure to purchase a valid residents parking session while displaying the residents permit will incur a Penalty Charge Notice
- your vehicle must be parked within a marked bay
- when parked in a bay reserved for disabled users, both the parking permit and Blue Badge must be displayed on the dashboard of your vehicle and clearly visible through the windscreen
- at all other times when using the off-street car park, you must pay and display a valid parking ticket, or purchase a valid parking session
- failure to display a valid parking permit; or the display of a counterfeit parking permit (including photocopies); or the use of the parking permit outside the times stated; or in non-participating off-street car parks; or in on-street parking bays will risk incurring a Penalty Charge Notice
- a £5 fee will be charged for the loss of a replacement parking permit
