How does it work?

How does it work?

If you are interested in Chesterfield Careline, one of our team will visit you in your home to carry out an assessment and recommend the most suitable equipment to best meet your needs, and allow you to get the most out of the service.

We have a wide range of equipment available that can be tailored to you, and how you wish to use it.

Once we’ve agreed what equipment you would like, a member of our team will come to install this for you.

A small digital alarm unit may be installed in your home – you’ll use this to speak to our response team if you need help. You’ll also be given a splash resistant pendant to press if you do need help.

Alternately, a GPS pendant may be more suitable for you. For help, you’ll simply press the button on the pendant and speak directly through it to a member of our team. A GPS pendant may be helpful if you wish to still remain in contact with our team away from your home – although it is worth noting that even though you can speak with us, we many not always be able to attend to you in person, if you have travelled out of the local area.

Equipment including (but not limited to) fall detectors, bed sensors and smoke detectors may also be recommended to you. These will automatically activate and connect you to the Chesterfield Careline contact centre if you need any help.

Don’t worry, we’ll talk you through all the different options available and show you how the equipment works.

On receiving and assessing the call, our response officer will take the most appropriate action for your needs, also taking into account your wishes. This could be sending out the falls recovery team if you have fallen, or contacting the emergency services, a medical professional or your named contacts. We will treat you with respect and dignity at all times.

We can also provide help in other ways as part of your package:

  • emergency prescription collection if needed
  • safe and well checks when friends and family are away
  • signposting to further support
  • fire safety checks
  • basic health checks if you've had a fall
