How can I get involved?
There are several ways to enjoy walking around the Chesterfield area.
In a group
As well as improving your health, walking with a group can enhance your social life – you can meet new people, make new friends, and have the reassurance of a friendly group with a trained walk leader. When COVID-19 guidelines allow, group walk will re-launch. Check the Walking in Chesterfield page for further updates.
As a volunteer
Free volunteer walk leader training is available and gives volunteers the knowledge, skills and confidence to help people to achieve better health and wellbeing.
There are opportunities for walk leaders or walk assistants with our existing walks or maybe you’d like to start a new walking group? We offer support to anyone who wants to set up a new walking group in the Chesterfield area, see more below.
On your own
If group walking isn’t your thing, you can find more information on how to take your first steps towards a more active lifestyle on the Derbyshire County Council website.
Chesterfield's Great Outdoors is a new project that provides you with ideas to keep you and your family active and exploring Chesterfield. More updates on this project are coming soon.
