Getting involved in your parks and open spaces
What does your local park mean to you?
- do you remember how lovely the daffodils look around the borough in spring?
- have you attended any of the many events in our parks?
- is habitat management and conservation important to you?
- have you just retired and are looking to get out and about either to make new friends or keep yourself busy?
- would you like to be more active and get that feel good factor from being outdoors?
- do you love your community and want to give something back?
If you have answered YES to any of these then why not volunteer in our parks?
Whether it is spending half an hour litter picking your park, taking photos of our parks for promotion, bulb planting in the autumn, hedge laying in the winter or helping out at events during school holidays, there is something for you. There may be a particular area in your local park that you see every day and wonder what you can do to help.
Volunteering in your local community can increase your skills and employability as well as being enjoyable.
Get out there in the fresh air, meet new people and get involved.
Whatever you can do is very valuable to your community and what happens in it.
There are already several voluntary friends groups that operate in our parks so if you are interested in one of these we could let you know.
If you want to volunteer – yes you can!
