If you want to collect money or sell items in the street for charity, you will need a street collection permit.

This also includes other public areas, such as shop doorways and car parks.

We take into account the number of other collections taking place on the same day and in the same location, so that the area is not saturated with charity collections all being held at the same time.

Please contact us to discuss the date and location that you are planning for your collection before applying for your permit, as we may recommend an alternative date.

You could be fined £200 if you collect money for charity without a licence.

How to apply

You can apply for a street collection permit online via Gov.uk, and find out about the documents we need to process your application. There is no charge for applying for a street collection permit. Alternatively you can complete and return the application form below direct to us.

After your collection has taken place

Once you have completed your collection, you need to send us a return showing how much money you collected, and how much you spent organising the collection (such as on advertising, printing, promotional materials etc).
